Assistant Professor | Department of Political Science | Mercyhurst University

Welcome!

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Mercyhurst University. I received my Ph.D. from the Department of Political Science at the University of North Texas in 2021.

My research is in the intersection of conflict management, human rights, and peacebuilding.

I study how and to what extent conflict management practitioners and human rights advocacy groups collaborate in civil war countries. My dissertation examined three questions: First, which conflict management techniques are more prone to collaboration with human rights advocacy groups. Second, to what extent such collaboration determines the success of conflict management effort. Third, whether such collaboration leads to a shift on the topics human rights advocacy groups cover.

In addition to my primary research area, my research agenda also focuses on ethnic conflicts, and area-wise I have special interests for the Middle East and Africa. My work is published in Journal of Asian and African Studies and Contemporary Islam.

At Mercyhurst, I teach International Organizations & Diplomacy, Politics of Global Economy, and Politics in the Middle East courses.
